Wayne Strattman Masterclass
The British Glass Biennale happens every 2 years and linked to the amazing show is the International Festival of Glass where masterclasses are taught with world renowned artists. In August 2019 Wayne Strattman taught a masterclass on plasma. This was my first foray into neon. The course was based over 4 days, using borosilicate glass with inert gasses and phosphor coatings. This is the course that sparked my interest in neon and started me down this incredible journey.
Working with borosilicate glass is as far from my normal blown glass as it could be, it was certainly a challenge but one that was extremely rewarding. I believe it is always good to step out from your comfort zone and try new activities.
