Iona

Iona is a range of free blown glass forms which range from short and bulbous to tall elongated flowing forms. All of the forms compliment each other and have a relationship. They sit together as if they are a family who each have their own personalities but as a group make a whole.
The pattern is hand drawn and then engraved onto the surface of the glass. The influence is from seamless patterns and from 1980s patterns, looking at the memphis group as well as other textiles and wall designs. The engravings have been added to the vessels in a contemporary way and with the patterns they have the name “Iona” hidden somewhere on each form, allowing the viewer to look closer and try to find the text.
